Christine Tedder Case

Savannah – Christine Case, 90 years old, died July 4, 2011 at Azalealand Nursing Home surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

She was born in Whiteville, NC on January 28, 1921, the daughter of the late Charles Gideon and Beatrice Edge Tedder. She was raised by her father and stepmother, Rosie Bass Tedder. She moved to Savannah in 1939 and married Dr. Francis Horace Case, Sr. on February 9, 1944. Christine was a major cornerstone in the Case Veterinary Hospital carrying out bookkeeping, reception, and animal care duties for many years. She was originally a member of the Reformation Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and served in the Lutheran Church Women as President. Most recently, she was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her son, Francis Horace Case, Jr. Gloria of Powder Springs, GA; daughter, Gail Merrell Nelson of New Albany, OH; son, Dr. Jerry Case and daughter-in-law, Gail H. Case of Savannah; grandchildren, Chrissie Keebaugh, Ashley Case, Laura Wiley, Dr. Carla Case McCorvey, Janice Merrell, Brian Merrell, and Julie Merrell; 9 great-grandchildren and sisters, Mona Fay MacClellen Edward and Betty Smith Graham of Whiteville, NC.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

The funeral service will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church with burial following at Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park.

The family suggests remembrances be made in her memory to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 10 W. 31st Street, Savannah, GA 31401 or Hospice Savannah, P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416.
